Lauren Harkins Wiuff, a broker at Marx-Bensdorf Realtors, has begun her tenure as the 2018 president of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors board of directors. Wiuff, who will serve a one-year term as board president, is also a lifetime member of MAAR’s Multi Million Dollar Club. At Marx-Bensdorf, she leads a team that includes her sister, Stephanie Sheahan.

Frank C. Pidgeon Industrial Park was completed in 1967, but it’s only now, four-plus decades later, that the property is finally realizing its full potential.

The 3,500-acre industrial park was developed when Memphis and Shelby County paid roughly $4.5 million to buy the land in the late 1950s after city, county and Port Commission leaders saw the need for a large industrial park following the creation of Presidents Island.

Mississippi River water levels approaching historic lows in the Mid-South are expected to rise during the next few weeks due to increased precipitation to the northeast.

“Conditions on the river are greatly improving due to rain in the Ohio River basin in the past few days, and we are expecting a nice rainfall event there this weekend that will help the river rise more,” said David Berretta, chief of hydraulics and the hydrology branch for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis district. “When conditions are this low, it doesn’t take much rain to produce a decent rise in river levels.”

The Memphis and Shelby County Port Commission has recently passed a new real estate commission policy for the sale and leasing of port property.

Each transaction by the commission will be based upon circumstances and market conditions. The new policy reverses 1991’s policy, which discouraged commissions to real estate agents, Tom Fisher, chairman of the Port Commission, said in a statement.
