In her new role, she will be responsible for developing the DMC’s marketing strategy; driving activities to enhance the image of Downtown and public awareness of its growth and value to the region; and lead initiatives to position Downtown as a center for culture, tourism, business and entertainment.

Memphis in May International Festival has a new director of marketing.

Penelope Huston has come to the organization from Contemporary Media and will oversee the organization’s marketing strategy and serve as the festival’s spokesperson.

5. Memphis Advertising Awards Get Campy -

Memphis’ advertising industry has been gearing up to go camping.

“Camp Addywanna” is the theme crafted by local agency inferno that will dominate the awards ceremony held next week by the American Advertising Federation’s Memphis chapter. The ceremony will be held Feb. 22 at the Memphis Zoo’s Teton Trek exhibit, and nearly every aspect of the event will include some allusion to a certain age-old ritual connected to youthful summers that involves tents, s’mores and hiking in the woods.

6. Henneberger Joins First State Bank Small-Business Lending Division -

Sean Henneberger has joined First State Bank’s small-business lending division as vice president/business development officer in the Memphis market. In his new role, Henneberger will help small businesses pursue loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture Business and Industry Guaranteed Loan Program.
