1. Greensward Dispute Mediation Begins -

The city-backed mediation effort between the Memphis Zoo and the Overton Park Conservancy begins Tuesday, March 8, following a busy weekend in Overton Park that brought out large crowds for the zoo as well as the park in general.

2. Greensward Sees Some Saturday Sit-Ins, No Arrests -

A group of about 100 people, many carrying Save The Greensward signs, turned out in Overton Park Saturday, March 5, during the first Saturday in the park since the Memphis City Council approved giving the zoo control of the northern part of the greensward for overflow parking. There were several sporadic sit-ins but no arrests.

4. Bodies Politick Shift Pyramid Finance Issue To Third Parties -

Two accounting and public finance companies have been hired to look over the finances of the two companies vying for use of The Pyramid.

Taking on the two firms became a necessary next step in the political process of figuring out a new use for The Pyramid after a lopsided recommendation by the Herenton administration in favor of Bass Pro Shops over the Ericson Group.

5. Christensen Named to Top Posts At Leading Medical Facilities -

Michael L. Christensen has been appointed the Stevens Professor in Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. Christensen also has assumed the directorship of the Pharmaceutical Department of Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, as well as the directorship of the Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at the Children's Foundation Research Center. He is a pediatric clinical pharmacist with expertise in clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, pediatric therapeutics and pediatric clinical trials. The new Stevens professorship was established and funded by Mr. and Mrs. David Stevens.
