9. Final Goodbye: Roll Call of Some Who Died in 2017 -

They made music that inspired legions of fans. Rock 'n' roll founding fathers Chuck Berry and Fats Domino, rockers Tom Petty and Gregg Allman, grunge icon Chris Cornell, country superstar Glen Campbell and jazz great Al Jarreau were among the notable figures who died in 2017, leaving a void in virtually every genre of music.

Elvis collectors and fans will soon have the chance to own a piece of history when a variety of items once owned by the King become available.

Mary Poppins he’s not. No flying umbrellas, no Oscar-winning musical numbers.

But as a caregiver, Jon Ericksen would rank himself right up there with any nanny in the business.

“Two nieces grew up in the house with me, I have worked with kids a lot in all my jobs, so I knew this was something that I would be very interested in,” says Ericksen, one of the men working for MyManny, a Tennessee-based, all-male nanny agency.

WASHINGTON (AP) – American agriculture has experienced a boom, with market values of crops, livestock and total agricultural products reaching record highs even as the amount of U.S. farmland declined, according to a new government survey.

Mary Singer, CEO of CRG2 SustainableSolutions, has been named a 2013 Women’s Business Enterprise Star by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. She was chosen by Women’s Business Council South, one of the national organization’s 14 regional partner organizations.

32. Breaking the Mold -

When Rosemarie Fair was named Broker of the Year in investment sales at last year’s Pinnacle Awards, she became the first woman ever to do so.

Before Fair founded One Source Commercial Inc. in 1993, she worked with Carlisle Corp. in the early 1980s on Beale Street Landing Downtown. She remembers often what her mentor Gene Carlisle taught her – “Somebody will take care of the big stuff, it’s the nickels and dimes that make the difference.”

Three years ago, three national women’s organizations began to gather in Memphis with a vision of preparing and excelling women in business.

The third annual “When Great Women Gather” event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis, 3700 Central Ave. It is being co-hosted by Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and the Women Business Enterprise Council South (WBEC South).

A Wolfchase auto dealership facility is officially changing hands and names.

First Tennessee Trust Department has bought the 48,085-square-foot auto dealership formerly known as Cadillac SAAB of Memphis, 7727 U.S. 64, for $4 million.

50. The Cleanup Women Take Care of Messes Left Behind -

Soul and R&B singer Betty Wright influenced the work of many artists with her 1970s hit "Clean Up Woman." Artists such as Mary J. Blige and the R&B trio, SWV, later sampled from the 1971 release.

Now its influence apparently reaches beyond music. Two Walls, Miss., women, Sara Manues and Janice Ward, are behind The Cleanup Women, a new small business offering post-construction cleanup services to make new homes attractive to potential buyers.
