1. Last Word: A Rainbow's Tale, The Two Holiday Peaks and Crosstown High Plans -

I saw it all so clearly on a very cloudy and very rainy Monday in the city. A strong rainbow with bold colors across town from the setting sun on the river. Not some play rainbow that you create with a garden hose or some alleged double rainbow that depends on where you stand. As we were fond of saying in these parts in the 1980s and the 1990s – this was a “world class” rainbow.

4. Owens Named MERI Executive Director -

Jason K. Owens has been named executive director of the Medical Education & Research Institute. Owens previously served as education/research planning manager of the nonprofit medical teaching and training bioskills laboratory, and has led cross-functional initiatives specific to the MERI’s strategic education and research planning, mobile education development and operational management.

The Engineers' Club of Memphis will hold its weekly lunch and meeting today at noon at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn, 3700 Central Ave. Dr. Seth Stein will speak about "New Insights into the Science and Hazards of the New Madrid Earthquake Zone."
