1. Holiday Weekend Gives a Boost to Auto Sales

DETROIT (AP) – The holiday weekend was good to U.S. automakers, as November sales rose 9 percent to beat strong numbers from a year ago.
Sales ran at an annual rate of 16.4 million cars and trucks last month, making it the best rate of the year according to Autodata Corp.

DETROIT (AP) – Pickup trucks led the charge in July, but strong sales of small cars show that demand for new vehicles is broad – and not slowing down.
Car sales grew in the first six months of this year, but not at the blistering pace of trucks and SUVs. Through June, full-size pickups were up 22.5 percent over the year before, while cars were up 5 percent.
3. US Auto Sales See Big Gains in May

DETROIT (AP) – Price cuts at Nissan and strong demand for pickup trucks helped U.S. auto sales rebound in May after a slight dip in April.
General Motors reported its strongest monthly sales since September of 2008. Chrysler, Ford, and Toyota also reported increases. Nissan Motor Co. notched its highest May sales ever after cutting prices on seven popular models early in the month. Only Volkswagen said sales fell compared with May of last year.
4. Automakers Report Growing US Sales in February

DETROIT (AP) – Americans want new cars and trucks, and they're not going to let higher gas prices or political dysfunction in Washington stand in their way.
General Motors, Toyota, Ford and most other automakers posted at least modest sales gains for February. Industry analysts estimate last month's sales rose about 7 percent from a year earlier as pent-up demand and cheap financing kept the U.S. auto sales recovery powering along.

DETROIT (AP) – American consumers ignored tax increases and trudged through winter weather to buy new cars and trucks at an unusually strong pace last month.
"(January) was like a sprinter out of the starting blocks," said Mike Jackson, CEO of AutoNation Inc., the country's largest auto dealership chain.
