6. Strong: Democrats Must Reconnect With Voters -

The new chairman of the Shelby County Democratic Party says the local party has lost its voters and getting them back is the path to victory in the 2018 county elections and beyond.

11. The Week Ahead: December 12-18 -

Good morning, Memphis! The colder, wetter weather is upon us now, but that won’t stop the American Queen. LeBron James and his gang come to town Wednesday. That’s the same day that the long-awaited Ikea store in Memphis opens. Expected to be a regional draw, some may camp out in the weather to be one of the first inside. And we offer congratulations to all of the University of Memphis graduates who will convene at FedExForum Sunday for Fall 2016 commencement ceremonies.

12. I Was Wrong. Mularkey is the Right Coach for Titans -

In light of the Tennessee Titans’ 6-6 record and continuing relevance in the NFL playoff picture, I offer those three little words that are so hard to say:

“I was wrong.”

And here’s three more:

13. 'Excellent' First Meeting for Obama, Trump -

WASHINGTON (AP) – In a cordial beginning to their transfer of power, President Barack Obama and President-elect Donald Trump met at the White House Thursday. Obama called the 90-minute meeting "excellent," and his successor said he looked forward to receiving the outgoing president's "counsel."

14. Titans, Lewan on Same Track to Success, Failure -

Is it too simple to say: As goes Taylor Lewan, so go the Tennessee Titans?

It’s obviously too broad a generalization, but Lewan’s ups and downs on the field and off do seem in many ways to mirror the Titans’ fortunes in recent years.

18. Do Titans Finally Have Their Offensive Line? -

New Tennessee Titans coach Mike Mularkey’s stated desire to play “exotic smashmouth” football – especially on offense – requires a good offensive line. But if there’s one thing the Titans have not had in recent years it’s a good offensive line.

21. Mularkey’s Choice: Build Resume or Build for Future -

Mike Mularkey finds himself in a tough situation.

The Titans head coach, who took over after Ken Whisenhunt was fired three games ago, knows he needs to win some games down the stretch to better enhance whatever chance he might have of being named permanent head coach.

22. Whisenhunt’s Failed Tenure Now Easier to Understand -

It was only one game, one win, but it was clear in the aftermath Sunday just how much the Tennessee Titans needed the victory they got in overtime against the New Orleans Saints.

After an emotional week highlighted by the firing of Ken Whisenhunt, interim coach Mike Mularkey and the remainder of Whisenhunt’s staff was able to rally the team and find a way to end a six-game losing streak that derailed the 2015 season almost from the start.

23. New Math: Whisenhunt Explains Atlanta Game Plan -

When a team loses five games in a row, everything is magnified.

And for the Tennessee Titans, that magnification is looking more like the large-print Bible my grandmother had as her eyesight failed in old age.

24. Titans Staff Must Alter Offense to Protect Mariota -

As of Sunday, Oct. 18, the Tennessee Titans’ mission has changed going forward – or least it should.

After their miserable showing in a 38-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, let’s not pretend this team is anywhere close to contending, even in the bad AFC South.

25. Better Titans Doing Nothing for Whisenhunt’s Record -

The whispers are already out there. How much job security does Ken Whisenhunt really have with the Tennessee Titans?

It seems a little soon for message boards and talk radio to be discussing the ouster of the Titans coach, but such is life in the coaching fish bowl when you lose games that should go into the win column, like the Titans have done in their past two games.

26. AFC South is There for the Taking -

Some team has to win the AFC South. League rules require it, even if no team truly deserves to go to the playoffs.

It was proven last year when the Carolina Panthers won the NFC South with a not-so-tidy 7-8-1 record, a mark that required four consecutive wins to reach.

27. Remember When Titans Had Home-Field Advantage? -

There really are two ways to look at the remainder of the Tennessee Titans 2014 season and how the bleak present could affect the uncertain future of this franchise.

As Steelers fans waved their Terrible Towels at LP Field Monday night, Titans fans watched as their terrible team had another terrible trial in falling to 2-8.

28. Big Second Half? Titans Have Rebounded Before -

As the Tennessee Titans reassemble from their bye week, there is some sense of optimism that somehow this team that went 2-6 through the first half of the season can put together something to make the final 2014 ledger look somewhat respectable.

29. Titans Buying What New Coaches Selling -

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Titans did what few believed they could do when they went into Kansas City and dominated the Chiefs on Sunday.

And while one win is hardly enough for Titans fans to start making Super Bowl reservations, there is the sense that something is vastly different about this organization from the past few years.
