The measure, which is part of Republican Gov. Bill Haslam’s legislative package, was scheduled for a full Senate vote on Monday evening. The companion bill is set for the House Finance Committee on Tuesday.

The state House of Representatives has voted 81-16 to allow school districts to sell color advertising on school buses.
Under current law, school busses can carry only black and white advertising on their back panels.
4. Bill Advances to Allow Color Ads On School Buses

Tennessee school buses could carry color commercial ads under a proposal advancing in the state Legislature.
The measure sponsored by Rep. Jimmy Eldridge, a Jackson Republican, passed the House Education K-12 Subcommittee 6-4 on Wednesday. It would allow the ads on the rear of the buses. The companion bill has been assigned to the Senate Education Committee.
