Urban Child Institute’s chairman of the board, Dr. Hershel “Pat” Wall, has resigned his position. Wall’s resignation, which he gave other board members via email on Wednesday, Dec. 23, follows the recent announcement that UCI president and CEO Eugene Cashman was retiring at the end of the year.

With first light Christmas Eve in North Mississippi the death toll from the Wednesday storm and tornadoes rose to seven with more than 40 injured, that according to Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant who has declared a state of emergency.

Dr. Steve Schwab can drop the word “interim” from his job title as soon as Thursday when the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees will appoint him chancellor of University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

8. Baker Donelson’s Williams Appointed To Volunteer Leadership Role at ILTA -

Merideth L. Williams has been appointed to the volunteer leadership role of conference vice president in the International Legal Technology Association. She will work with other volunteers in the delivery of educational programming to members of ILTA.

Dr. Vicki Murrell has been named assistant dean of distance education for the University of Memphis.

The budget proposed by Gov. Phil Bredesen may delay job cuts at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, but it won’t provide any new money for construction projects or stop the institution from seeking a 10 percent tuition hike, said UTHSC Chancellor Hershel P. Wall.
