3. ‘Clothier to the King’ Lansky’s Back on Beale -

You don’t have to get very far inside the door of the new Hard Rock Café at Second and Beale streets to find a reminder of the old Lansky’s clothing store. That is, if you don’t notice the large historical marker outside the building at 126 Beale St.

4. Still Rock ‘n’ Roll -

When Jeff Nolan, the Hard Rock Café’s music and memorabilia historian, got to Memphis Sunday, June 29, to prepare for the next day’s preview tours of the new Hard Rock location at Beale and Second streets, he grabbed a bite to eat at nearby Rum Boogie Café.

5. Street Signs -

More than a year after the city of Memphis reached an out-of-court settlement with Performa Entertainment that would put day-to-day control of the Beale Street entertainment district in the hands of Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr.’s administration, the federal bankruptcy case tied to that settlement remains unsettled.

6. Lansky Bros. Recognized For Innovative Work -

Memphis retailer Lansky Bros. was honored July 21 at The Four Seasons Restaurant in New York City with an achievement award from men’s fashion trade publication MR Magazine.

The Uptown/Downtown Awards are presented to retailers who have shown innovation in their work.

7. BBB of the Mid-South Re-Elects Officers -      The Better Business Bureau of the Mid-South has re-elected its current officers to serve in 2008.
