Cindy Branch, Meritan’s associate vice president for health services, has been selected to represent Tennessee as one of the nation’s top 50 home care and hospice nurses by the National Association for Home Care & Hospice and the Home Healthcare Nurses Association. Branch, a registered nurse, has oversight of Meritan’s nursing programs, including home health, private duty nursing and medical residential homes. She will be recognized at NACH’s annual meeting in October.

Grace Stewart has joined the Metal Museum as collections manager/registrar. Stewart, who previously served as registrar for the National Civil Rights Museum for a year and a half, says her goals are to help grow and define the Museum’s permanent collection and facilitate greater access to the collection through exhibits and education opportunities.

Shelby County Commissioners approved a plan Monday, March 18, to convert the countywide school board to a 13-member single district body effective Sept. 1.
The plan which includes district lines that are almost but not an identical match of the 13-member single districts to be used in county commission elections in 2014 goes to Memphis Federal Court Judge Samuel “Hardy” Mays for his action.

11. Attorney General To Defend Strip Club Ordinance

Tennessee Attorney General Robert Cooper will help defend the Shelby County ordinance governing Memphis strip clubs in U.S. District Court.
Cooper's office filed a motion Monday to intervene on the side of the city and county in the case filed by seven strip club owners. The suit challenges the constitutionality of the ordinance as well as the state law on which the ordinance is based.
