After 17 years with Pickering Firm Inc., James Hale has been tapped as one of the architecture and engineering firm’s principal owners. As director of finance and administration, Hale is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the firm and the day-to-day fiscal management of the company. Hale, who is based in Pickering’s Memphis office, also oversees all accounting and administrative staff, including human resources and IT.

3. Memphis Zoo Offers Polar Bear Expedition -

The Memphis Zoo is teaming up with Classic Escapes to offer a trip to Manitoba, Canada, Nov. 6 to 13 to observe polar bears and other arctic animals in their natural habitat.

Gail Karr, assistant curator of mammals at the Memphis Zoo, will be the group’s escort and Memphis Zoo representative.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — U.S. House Republican leader John Boehner will campaign for congressional candidate Alan Nunnelee in northern Mississippi on Thursday, signaling the GOP's intense effort to win back a seat it lost in 2008.

Julia Wilson has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing at BankTennessee. Wilson has been with the company since 1995. She has received several awards, including a Golden Pyramid from the Promotional Products Association International and an ADDY Award from the Memphis Advertising Federation.

6. Bethel Named New VP Of COMEC Board -

Greg Bethel has been named vice president of the board of directors of the Commission on Missing & Exploited Children (COMEC). Bethel is the director of human resources for the Jackson-Madison County School System in Jackson, Tenn. He's been on the board of directors for two years.

7. Trezevant Manor Foundation Names Development Director -

Martha Boyd was named director of development for the Trezevant Manor Foundation.

The New York Times Co. Broadcast Media Group announced that Bruce Moore was named news director of WREG-TV in Memphis, effective Jan. 30. Moore is a 15-year veteran of WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Va. He served as assistant director of WVEC-TV for seven years. He graduated from the University of Georgia.
