1. 100 North Main -

The city’s tallest building, the 37-story 100 North Main Building – may or may not become the city’s second convention center hotel. But the skyscraper that has been vacant for four years and counting is the centerpiece of a 3-acre planned commercial complex anchored by a 600-room hotel, no matter where it winds up in the footprint. The complex, as much as the hotel, promises to change more than the city’s convention business.

2. TVA Seeks Environmental Comment on Nuclear Plant Sale -

HOLLYWOOD, Ala. (AP) – The Tennessee Valley Authority is seeking public comment on the environmental impact of selling an unfinished nuclear plant to a company that will make it operational.

3. December 9-15, 2016: This week in Memphis history -

1986: Foreclosure proceedings are underway for the Downtown Radisson on the southeast corner of Third Street and Union Avenue. The $25 million, 284-room hotel had just opened the previous June after a renovation that incorporated the old eight-story Tennessee Hotel facing Third into a new 11-story tower east of that. The Radisson is the second Downtown hotel to have financial difficulties since the start of 1986. Chattanooga developer Franklin Haney had defaulted on interest payments for the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, the hotel connected to the Memphis Cook Convention Center, prompting a refinancing of the deal.

4. December 2-8, 2016: This week in Memphis history -

2014: Black Lives Matter “die-in” march and protest on Beale Street draws a group of 50 protesters by the district’s Christmas tree at Beale and Rufus Thomas Boulevard.

1986: The Daily News marks its 100th anniversary with a party at The Peabody hotel that features columnist Louis Rukeyser. It is also the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, and Rukeyser decries some of the commercialism and corporate sponsorship surrounding the renovation of the monument.

5. Unfinished Nuclear Plant Sold, Buyer Vows to Get It Running -

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – A development company that purchased an unfinished nuclear power plant from the Tennessee Valley Authority for $111 million on Monday said it plans to spend as much as $13 billion to make the nuclear generator operational.

It's Veterans Day with the annual Downtown parade starting at 10 a.m. Friday and a wreath-laying ceremony an hour later at the Doughboy Statue in Overton Park.

The long local vote count since Tuesday is still underway as Thursday becomes Friday. It should wrap up Friday with the provisional ballot count completed.

Media report the Senate held a roll call vote on the nominations of Democrats Ron Walter and Virginia Lodge after some Republicans objected to all Democrats being appointed to the board. The measure passed Tuesday night 86-12.
