5. Denver REIT Buys Industrial Portfolio for $24M -

Denver-based Industrial Income Trust Inc. has bought an 890,000-square-foot industrial portfolio in Southeast Memphis from CRP Holdings B LP for $24.3 million. The purchase, recorded under the entity IIT Memphis IC LLC on the Shelby County Register of Deeds, includes various lots in Memphis Distribution Center.

6. Hertz Closes On Memphis CRE Portfolio -

Hertz Investment Group LLC has completed its acquisition of five Memphis office buildings, marking the firm’s return to the Bluff City and focus shift to secondary and tertiary markets.

7. CBRE Memphis Brokers Florida Investment Sale -

CB Richard Ellis Memphis has brokered the sale of the Grand Panama Office Building in Panama City Beach, Fla., from Grand Panama Office LLC to Corr Properties I LLC for $3.7 million, or $137.80 per square foot.

8. Trinity Place Sells For Third Time In Five Years -

A Cordova retail center is under new ownership for the third time in five years. Atlanta-based Altus Real Estate Advisors LLC has purchased Trinity Place, 7990 Trinity Road, for $2.8 million.

It’s safe to say that real estate runs in Grant Ridgway’s blood. In the 1890s, his great grandfather moved to Jackson, Miss., bought a farm, sectioned it off in parcels and sold them one by one. Naturally, his grandfather got into the business, developing much of the West Jackson area.

12. Skyline Grows Local Footprint on Vantech Dr. -

Skyline Exhibits MidSouth is expanding its presence at East Pointe Business Center.

The St. Paul, Minn.-based tradeshow exhibits company renewed its 9,958-square-foot lease at 3895 Vantech Drive, Suite 9, and expanded into an additional 3,524 square feet. The additional space will enable Skyline to assemble and store exhibits for clients.

13. Memphis Bar Assn. Elects New Officers, Board Members -

At the Memphis Bar Association’s Annual Meeting Thursday at The Peabody hotel, the MBA announced its 2010 officers and new members of its board of directors.

Immediate past president Art Quinn passed the gavel to incoming president Ricky E. Wilkins of the Law Offices of Ricky E. Wilkins. John Cannon of Shuttleworth Williams PLLC and Gary K. Smith of Apperson Crump & Maxwell PLC automatically move to the positions of vice president/president-elect and treasurer, respectively. Linda Warren Seely, director of pro bono projects at Memphis Area Legal Services Inc., was chosen as secretary.

As the real estate slump toils on, a Chicago-based company has proven to be a savior of sorts for the local industrial sector.

HSA Commercial Real Estate, already a player in the local market, continued its investments here by pulling the trigger on three of the four most lucrative deals in Shelby County during the past year, all of them in the Oakhaven/Parkway Village area.

15. Numbers Show Industrial Real Estate Taking Plenty Of ‘Licks’ -

A healthy industrial real estate market is imperative for Memphis to live up to its longtime moniker of “America’s Distribution Center” or its new one of “America’s Aerotropolis.”

In other words, a viable warehouse sector – which bolsters the city’s ability to store goods before they’re distributed and supports the city’s robust transportation assets – is mission critical no matter how the city’s marketing is phrased.

16. Law Week Ends While Memories Remain -

While the Memphis Bar Association’s annual Law Week events end today, they remain in the minds of the city’s legal community.

At 10 a.m., the bar will hold its traditional naturalization ceremony in which more than 340 incoming U.S. citizens will be sworn in at The Cannon Center for the Performing Arts.
