3. Memphis Bar Judicial Poll Released -

The Memphis Bar Association poll of attorneys on the judicial races on the Aug. 7 ballot shows 16 percent to as high as 38 percent of the attorneys participating have no opinion in many of the judicial races.

5. Goldman Sachs Says Consumer Products Growth Ahead -

NEW YORK (AP) – Consumer products companies coming off a rocky 2010 should see a more stable future ahead of them in 2011, a Goldman Sachs analyst said Wednesday.

Manufacturers and retailers tried to stimulate shoppers to buy more with aggressive promotions, which often failed or cut into profitability. But analyst Andrew Sawyer said in a research note that companies should see US profits grow in 2011 as ease back on pricey promotion and real demand for products becomes more firm.

6. WyreStorm Leaps Out With HDMI Products -

The owners of WyreStorm launched their new business within weeks of a cable connectivity upgrade that is expected to set the standard for home entertainment systems.

The Internet-based business, which began operations in recent weeks, specializes in High-Definition Multimedia Interface products, including the just released HDMI 1.4 specification.

7. Thompson to Make Memphis Stop -

Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson is tentatively slated to be in Memphis for a Dec. 14 fundraiser, his second since he got into the race for the White House earlier this year.

Details, including the tab for rubbing elbows with the former Tennessee senator, were still being worked out this week, said attorney Buck Wellford. Wellford is helping coordinate the private event to be held at the home of Dr. Dwight Clark in East Memphis.
