4. Withers’ Home Will Be Dedicated as Historic Site -

Photojournalist Ernest C. Withers’ southwest Memphis home is being dedicated as a historic site.

The home at 480 W. Brooks Road will be dedicated at a ceremony Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m., during which a historical marker will be unveiled.

John Hope Bryant has come through Memphis International Airport many times on business. The founder of the financial literacy nonprofit “Operation HOPE” was always aware the airport was Martin Luther King’s last arrival point on the way to his assassination in 1968.

8. Withers Collection Expands With Dorothy Mae’s Cafe -

With signs of new life on the block of the Beale Street entertainment district between Hernando and Fourth streets, Rosalind Withers feels like she is ready to go in some new directions with the Withers Collection, the home of the collected works of her late father, photographer Ernest Withers.

9. Events -

The Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale will be held Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave. More than 15,000 books and other items will be for sale, all priced at $2 or less. Proceeds benefit the library. Visit memphislibrary.org
