1. Dot to Open West Memphis Terminal, Raise Driver Pay -

Dot Transportation, an affiliate of Dot Foods, announced it is opening a new terminal location in the Memphis-area market and will raise wages for its drivers fleetwide.

Dot Transportation employs more than 1,500 drivers at 11 Dot Foods distribution centers and 16 terminals across the country, including 87 drivers at its Dyersburg, Tennessee, distribution center. Dot Foods Tennessee plans to hire 40 more drivers this year and is opening a new terminal in the Memphis area this month.

3. Two New Food Concepts Coming to Crosstown Concourse -

Crosstown Concourse is set to add a pair of new food concepts to its tenant mix this summer. Global Cafe, an international food hall where a mix of cuisines will be prepared by three immigrant food entrepreneurs and their staff, and Lucy J’s Bakery, which specializes in custom event cakes and fresh baked goods, will open in part of the space now occupied by Curb Market.

4. Dorothy Day House Plants New Roots in Midtown -

Sister Maureen Griner, the executive director of the Memphis chapter of the Dorothy Day House, says that every night in Memphis there are about 160 families who will be sleeping in a shelter or somewhere inhabitable.

5. Shibata Named UTHSC Chair of Surgery -

Dr. David Shibata has been named the Scheinberg Endowed Chair of Surgery and a professor in the Department of Surgery in the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

6. Woeppel Named CEO of UT Medical Group -

Charles “Chuck” Woeppel has been named chief executive officer of UT Medical Group Inc. Woeppel, who has served as the organization’s chief operating officer since 2012, will also continue in that role.

7. Dave Robbins Receives Highest Recognition In Restoration Industry -

Dave Robbins of Crawford, Smith & Sharp LLC recently was awarded the Certified Restorer (CR) designation from the Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration. The CR designation is the highest recognition awarded in the restoration industry. Since its inception in 1976, only 485 individuals have earned the designation.
