Tennessee football coach Butch Jones got serious about taking the next step with his football program not long after his team’s 45-6 victory over Northwestern in the Jan. 1 Outback Bowl.
Jones fired defensive coordinator John Jancek on Jan. 6, and three days later hired his top candidate for the opening, Bob Shoop of Penn State.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee is looking into a potential renovation of Neyland Stadium.
The school announced Thursday it has partnered with Populous "to conduct a comprehensive renovation plan and feasibility study." Athletic director Dave Hart said in a statement "this process is a critical step in determining the appropriate vision and supporting business model for a significant renovation."

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee has given Butch Jones a $500,000 raise that will increase his annual pay to $4.1 million.
The school announced the raise Monday. Jones' contract continues to run through the 2020 season.

KNOXVILLE (AP) – Tennessee plans to honor former Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt by building an on-campus statue in her honor.
Tennessee athletic department spokesman Jimmy Stanton confirmed Tuesday morning what athletic director Dave Hart has been mentioning during the school's Big Orange Caravan statewide tour. Stanton said the statue would go up "hopefully as soon as in the fall."
