Eighteen-year-old Sam Ray says the voice recognition service on his iPhone — famously named Siri — called emergency dispatchers after his truck fell on him while he tried to make repairs.

6. Jobless Rate Tops 10 Percent For First Time Since ’83

WASHINGTON (AP) – The national unemployment rate has passed the psychological threshold of 10 percent for the first time since 1983 – and is likely to go higher.
Nearly 16 million people can’t find jobs even though the worst recession since the Great Depression has apparently ended. Persistently high unemployment could hurt the recovery by restraining consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of the economy.
7. Shoemaker Financial Appoints Jenkins Managing Partner

Thomas “Mac” Jenkins has been appointed managing partner of Shoemaker Financial. Jenkins joined Shoemaker in 1991 as a financial adviser, eventually becoming general manager of the firm in 2004.
In his new position he will be responsible for sales, recruiting, training and development of advisers. In addition to his management responsibilities, Jenkins also provides financial products and services to single and married individuals and small businesses.
