Had the flattering comments come from the Memphis Grizzlies’ own content producers, Grind City Media, they would have been easy enough to dismiss. After all, that would have been like what center Marc Gasol said at season’s end when stressing the importance of candid evaluation.
2. Memphis United in Support of Grizzlies on National Playoffs Stage
- Thursday, April 27, 2017
Yes, the Grizzlies’ 116-103 loss in Game 5 at San Antonio was disappointing. So step back a moment and remember the atmosphere at FedExForum – and across the city – during the two wins that briefly evened this first-round West Conference Playoff Series at 2-2.
3. South NCAA Regional Brings Calipari, Economic Impact and Lonzo Ball
- Thursday, March 23, 2017

5. Last Word: Budget Basics, A Peak At Greensward Mediation and Elvis & Nixon
- Wednesday, April 20, 2016
Spurs 94 – Grizzlies 68 in game 2 of the NBA playoffs. The TNT post-game show just showed the highlights of the game while Shaq and Charles Barkley talked about how big the women are in San Antonio. I’m not making this up. They didn’t even try to talk about the game. This is just grim.
6. Memphis Takes Pounding in Opener With Spurs
- Tuesday, April 19, 2016
The Memphis Grizzlies were not alone in their unmitigated defeat. The NBA Playoffs started this past weekend and while descriptions of what happened to the Grizzlies within the shadow of the Alamo in San Antonio were colorful – “a 106-74 bludgeoning by the San Antonio Spurs” read one account at NBA.com – this was hardly an isolated incident.
7. Birmingham Offers More Than Bowl Game
- Tuesday, December 22, 2015
University of Memphis football fans will head to Birmingham, Ala., next week to celebrate a bowl game appearance that could see the team finish with 10 wins for a second straight season.
It’s been a historical run, and the Birmingham Bowl appearance will give the Tigers a rare chance to play against Auburn University. The game’s 11 a.m. kickoff makes it a plausible day trip, but then Birmingham has plenty to offer anyone thinking of spending a night or two.

- Friday, June 19, 2015
It went six games, Golden State winning 105-97 in Cleveland to give the Warriors their first NBA championship in 40 years, Andre Iguodala winning the series MVP, and LeBron James saying he didn’t know if this loss hurt more than his three others in the NBA Finals.

There was so much that the Golden State Warriors did not have to be taught. They did, after all, win 67 games in the regular season. They swept the New Orleans Pelicans out of the first round and coach Monty Williams out of his job.
10. Dream Season

12. Grizzlies Must Maintain ‘Thirsty Dog’ Mentality
- Friday, May 10, 2013
As the Grizzlies’ series with the Oklahoma City Thunder shifted to Memphis for Game 3 on Saturday, May 11, the Grizzlies found themselves in much better position than during the Clippers’ series.
Instead of staring up at a 0-2 deficit, their Game 2 victory tied the series 1-1 and has allowed them the possibility to advance to the Western Conference Finals just by winning three games at FedExForum.
13. Clippers’ Bench Spells Trouble for Grizzlies
- Friday, April 19, 2013
The Los Angeles Clippers may or may not prove to be serious Western Conference title contenders. 16. Grizzlies Show Fatigue As Season Grinds On
- Friday, February 10, 2012
This isn’t the San Antonio Spurs’ first rodeo, so spare them the tales of woe over the lockout-shortened season, its compressed schedule and more back-to-back games.
If any other NBA team wants to complain about the schedule, well, it is a free country. But understand: On Monday, Feb. 6, the Spurs started their annual “Rodeo Road Trip” with an 89-84 victory over the Grizzlies at FedExForum. It was just the first of nine straight road games – covering 7,941 miles – due to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo taking over their arena.
