1. Complaint Prompts Investigation of $50M Tupelo Project

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality is investigating a $50 million project in Tupelo after receiving a complaint about its environmental impact.
American Legion Post 49 Commander Mike Pettigrew says he filed the complaint out of concern for Legion Lake, which his post stewards. He tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that a runoff control measure wasn't ready before construction began and a wetland mitigation plan wasn't filed.

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Oxford tourism-related taxes hit an all-time high in April.
Figures presented at Wednesday's Oxford Tourism Council meeting showed the hotel and motel tax for April 2012 climbed 27 percent compared to the month of April in 2011 with $22,838 in taxes collected.
3. Tupelo Sees Increase in Tourism Revenue

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) – The Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau is on track for a record year for tourism sales tax revenue.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/NEh5s8) says figures release this week show that revenue has grown for seven of the eight months so far in this fiscal year.
