1. "Remastered" Finds Stories Behind Tennessee's Iconic Brands -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A miniseries that airs beginning this month highlights the personal stories behind six iconic Tennessee brands.

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development says the companies featured in the series include Jack Daniel's, Lodge Cast Iron, St. Blues Guitars, United Record Pressing, Barrett Firearms Manufacturing and Prophetik Haute Couture.

2. Last Word: Graceland Offensive, Mural Lawsuit, and a TNReady Encore -

It’s on in The Haven. Graceland’s managing partner, Joel Weinshanker, is looking to turn out Whitehaven residents in support of Graceland’s plans for a 5,000 to 6,000 seat arena and in the process a showdown over just what the city and county noncompete for FedExForum means. During a townhall meeting at Guest House Thursday evening, Weinshanker made his case to about 150 Whitehaven residents and around eight or nine candidates in this election year. And he said the chief problem is Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland won’t talk to him about projects he says will open up Whitehaven for future economic development and prosperity.

Golf course management, development and marketing company Troon has been chosen to manage Colonial Country Club, a private golf club in Cordova that once hosted the annual PGA Tour stop in Memphis.

Memphis Grizzlies Suffer 15th Consecutive Loss

The Grizzlies lost their 15th straight game, 119-110 at Chicago, on Wednesday, March 7.

The team has not won since defeating the Phoenix Suns at FedExForum on Jan. 29.

7. Former State Rep. Rich Starts Parole Board Career -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former state Rep. Barrett Rich is starting a new career in public service as a member of the Tennessee Board of Parole.

Haslam announced the appointment of the Somerville Republican to the board in August, but it couldn't take effect until after the Nov. 4 general election, when Rich's term in the Legislature officially ended.

8. Rep. Barrett Rich to Retire from Tennessee House -

NASHVILLE (AP) – State Rep. Barrett Rich says he won't run for another term representing his rural West Tennessee district in the House this year.

The Somerville Republican has served three terms in the lower chamber of the General Assembly. He is a former state trooper who served on then-Gov. Phil Bredesen's security detail and is the current chairman of the House Health Subcommittee.

9. Haslam: No State Health Care Exchange -

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam told a Nashville Rotary Club audience Monday, Dec. 10, that the state will not operate its own health care insurance exchange.

Such an exchange is one option available to states under terms of the federal Affordable Care Act. A state exchange is an alternative to a requirement that every state participate in a federal exchange.

NASHVILLE (AP) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol's leadership says it wants to rename the agency the Tennessee State Patrol because its role has evolved beyond traffic enforcement in the years since it was established in 1929.

11. Fayette Rail Yard Expected to Spark Business Activity -

Don Culbreath has about 200 acres for sale in Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park, a 2,600-acre site in Marshall County, Miss., but so far no one has shown any interest in buying the land.

12. Norfolk Southern Caps Rail Yard Plans With Few Objections -

Wick Moorman admitted that if he had traveled to Fayette County earlier this year, he might as well have shown up wearing a Darth Vader costume. That’s because Moorman, the CEO of Norfolk Southern Corp., realized he and his company were viewed back then as evil overlords.

13. Rail Yard Site All But Nailed -

The land where Norfolk Southern Corp. wants to build an intermodal yard was annexed Monday night by the town of Rossville, paving the way for the railroad’s proposed multimillion-dollar, multi-acre facility.

14. Norfolk Southern, Fayette Move Closer to Intermodal Marriage -

The South Fayette Alliance on Wednesday night began the process of endorsing a site where the group wants Norfolk Southern Corp. to build its proposed intermodal facility, although it didn’t reach a formal position.
