WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump said Tuesday that his wife, Melania, is "doing really well" although she remains hospitalized following a medical procedure to treat a kidney condition the White House described as benign. He said he expected the first lady back home at the White House before the end of the week.

2. Shelby Farms Park Formally Debuts $70 Million Improvements -

Opening a park that looks $70 million different isn’t a matter of lifting a curtain.

For two years, Shelby Farms Park has remained open to visitors with roads in the park changing dramatically as the landscape changed too. Tens of thousands of daily motorists traveling Walnut Grove Road on the park’s southern border have also seen the work in progress.

7. Civil Rights Museum Sit-In Exhibit Goes Digital -

Raumesh Akbari remembers her first encounter with the sit-in exhibit at the National Civil Rights Museum.

As a sixth-grader, she had heard and read about the lunch counter sit-ins of the early 1960s. But like many visitors to the museum, she was too young to have encountered them herself.

Memphis City Council member Lee Harris is challenging Democratic state Sen. Ophelia Ford in the August primary for District 29, the Senate seat held by a member of the Ford family since 1975.

Terry Brimhall, founder and president of Brimhall Foods Co. Inc., has been named entrepreneur of the year by the Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce.

10. Labor Leaders Remembrance of MLK Timely -

Organized labor supporters from around the country will descend on Memphis Monday to join members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local 1733 in solidarity as they march through Downtown’s streets on the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

12. Local Radiologist Named NMA President-Elect -

Dr. Albert Morris Jr. was named president-elect of the National Medical Association during the group's annual convention. A private practice radiologist, Morris has served on the board of the Memphis and Shelby County Medical Society. He is a graduate of the Howard University College of Medicine and completed a residency and fellowship training at the University of Tennessee-Memphis.
