WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress ran full-tilt into election-year gridlock over immigration Thursday and headed toward a five-week summer break with no agreement in sight on legislation to cope with the influx of young immigrants flocking illegally to the United States.

2. Dad-Daughter Date Night to Benefit Girls Inc. -

Girls Inc. of Memphis is holding an evening of fun, food and adventure for girls and their dads or male role models.

3. Empowering Programs -

On a recent Thursday night in January, 10 young girls enjoyed assorted cheeses, crab cakes, fruits and desserts at Napa Café in East Memphis.

While the girls, all members of Girls Inc. of Memphis, loved the food, it was their discussions with female employees from CB Richard Ellis Memphis that nourished their imaginations and ambitions.

4. Wilson Named CBU Dean Of Graduate, Professional Studies -

Dr. Patrick Wilson has been named dean of the Graduate and Professional Studies program at Christian Brothers University.

Wilson will lead the marketing, recruitment and retention for evening undergraduate programs and graduate programs as well as have responsibility for the financial planning and administrative operations.

Brentano's Bookstore will host a book-signing by Alma Westfield, the Bartlett author of "Unlocking the Door," Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the bookstore inside Oak Court Mall at 4465 Poplar Ave.
