On Tuesday, though there will be much attention to the first of six weekly rankings of college football teams by the new College Football Playoff committee. And the Tigers expect to make the rankings. The players are saying that. That will be followed closely, of course, by another series of interviews about how the team is focused only on the next game as they keep hitting refresh on the playoff committee rankings site. The rankings also promise to be interesting for the SEC teams that are part of the local and regional sports mix here.

Whimsy Expands Into Franchises -

The co-owner of a Memphis-based cookie company with one retail store in East Memphis is about to turn her simple recipe for sweet treats into a nationwide enterprise.
Whimsy Cookie Co. founder and co-owner Laurie Suriff said she’s on the verge of launching a franchise-based expansion for the business she started in 2006 out of her home. The plan is to replicate the Whimsy model – built around a pink, whimsically designed experience inside the store and thick sugar cookies with colorful frosting – starting with a location opening in Little Rock in December.

On his last campaign event on the last full day of the 2014 campaign season, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam was surrounded by whimsy and cookies in a decidedly pink East Memphis shop.
Haslam supporters packed the Whimsy Cookie Company, a boutique cookie bakery on Poplar Avenue Monday, Nov. 3, just before the afternoon rush hour.
