Knoxville-based Cherokee Health Systems has stepped in to continue operating the clinics of Memphis’ Resurrection Health, which closed its doors on Dec. 31 in part because of funding running out.

The Memphis-based health care organization had already agreed to merge with Cherokee in 2016. The closure, and Cherokee taking over operations, was a result partly of Congress in December approving a three-month continuing resolution that included less than half of the previous financial support that was available. According to a letter Resurrection distributed to supporters, an attempt at securing more federal funds for clinical care through other partnerships also fell through.

A 10,000-square-foot retail building on Summer Avenue has sold for $500,000.

Commercial Capital Group LLC purchased the property at 4798 Summer Ave., which currently houses Plasma Biological Services, from Irvin D. Califf, the Sue Ballin Family Trust and M.N. Silverman. NAI Saig Co. executive vice president Brian Califf and executive sales associate Daniel McPhail represented the sellers in the deal.

CVS Health says it wants to use its roughly $69 billion acquisition of the insurer Aetna to dive deeper into managing customer health, with its nearly 10,000 stores becoming "front doors" for care. An Atlanta-based real estate investment firm has made its first purchase in the Memphis market with the acquisition of a 198,103-square-foot shopping center in the heart of Bartlett.

The Bartlett Towne Centre, located at 6005 Stage Road, was acquired by Branch Properties LLC from Houston-based real estate investment trust Weingarten Realty for $28.8 million.

Shelby County’s mortgage market closed out a busy first quarter with a 24 percent bump in purchase mortgage volume for the final month of the quarter, new figures show.

When Wessman Development came to town last year with the idea of a boutique hotel, the Palm Springs, California company was part of the flood of smaller hotel projects Memphis was seeing and is still seeing. Then the company added another hotel and just this month the redevelopment of a building on Madison west of Second Street as apartments with retail on the ground floor. In a very short period of time, Wessman has had a lot of plans for Memphis.

Memphis International Airport leaders are moving forward with plans to consolidate all of the airline and retail operations to an updated Concourse B.

As a part of those modernization and consolidation efforts, the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority board of commissioners approved Thursday, Jan. 19, an amendment of AERO Systems Engineering Inc.’s jet bridge and aircraft parking utilization study.

A Georgia business named 22 North Third LLC purchased the Econo Lodge Downtown and its garage, located at 22 N. B.B. King Blvd and 28 N. B.B. King Blvd., from Bluff City Partners LLC in a Dec. 29 warranty deed. Mabra Holeyfield signed the deed as chief manager of Bluff City Partners.

99. Large Deals, Office Construction Among Memphis' Commercial Real Estate Trends -

Coming off of a strong year in 2015, the commercial real estate market in the Memphis metropolitan area continued to do well in 2016.
