Coming off of a strong year in 2015, the commercial real estate market in the Memphis metropolitan area continued to do well in 2016.

The number of homes in foreclosure inventory, properties that have been foreclosed but not yet resold by the bank, has fallen drastically. At the end of 2008, there were 3,925 homes in foreclosure inventory; at the end of July, there were 2,070, a decrease of 47 percent.

A two-tenant retail center on Germantown Parkway has traded hands for $3 million.

Kim Investment Partners IV LLC, a California limited liability company, purchased the 6,480-square-foot Class A building at 2288 N. Germantown Parkway from GT Plaza LLC, according to a June 29 warranty deed.

Matt Cox has been promoted to director of asset management at Lehman-Roberts Co. Cox most recently served as total process reliability coordinator for three years. In his new role, he is responsible for the full lifecycle of all construction equipment supplied to Lehman-Roberts’ operations divisions, including acquiring equipment, maintaining nearly 600 pieces of rolling stock and disposing of equipment as necessary.

Memphis-based MAA is a year into its search for a new headquarters, and the company is moving closer to plans for a newly constructed building.

The real estate investment trust, which focuses on multifamily properties, first announced the move last summer. MAA is currently housed in nearly 43,000 square feet at 6584 Poplar Ave. in East Memphis. It is looking for an 80,000-square-foot space, with room to grow, to house its 200 local employees.

NEW YORK (AP) – Tribune Publishing rejected a second takeover bid from USA Today owner Gannett, but did say Monday that it was open to further talks.

Gannett last week raised its per-share bid for the owner of the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and other newspapers to $15, from $12.25. Gannett, based in McLean, Virginia, put the total value of the revised offer at about $864 million, which includes some $385 million in debt.
