2. Terminix COO Stepping Down -

Marty Wick, the chief operating officer of Terminix, is leaving to pursue other career opportunities, the division of Memphis-based ServiceMaster announced Monday, Dec. 11.

In the interim, the termite and pest control’s field operations will report to Augusto Titarelli, vice president of Terminix’s north and international divisions since 2015.

7. ServiceMaster to Spin Off Business, Gillette Out as CEO -

Shares of Memphis-based ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. were trading 6 percent higher Wednesday morning, July 26, on news that the company has made a change in chief executive offer, effective immediately, and will spin off its American Home Shield (AHS) business from its Terminix and Franchise Services Group (FSG) businesses.

11. Last Word: Fire Recovery, Justice Department Work Begins and Rocky Top Angst -

The death toll in the East Tennessee wildfires goes to 10 Thursday as the recovery effort moves beyond a search for those missing. The count of buildings burned in Sevier County is estimated at more than 700 – 300 just in Gatlinburg. And 47 people are injured by the latest count. The count of those who died in the fires includes confirmation that Jon and Janet Summer of Memphis are among the dead recovered so far.

AutoZone Inc.

AutoZone Inc. is one of the largest auto parts retailers and distributors in the U.S., with a store count of 5,476 as of Feb. 14. Since 1998, the company has repurchased $15.7 billion worth of its own shares. At the end of March, AutoZone continued its share buyback program with the authorization to buy back another $750 million in company stock. The company followed that news with plans to pursue a $650 million debt offering to be used for “general corporate purposes.” – Andy Meek

Dr. Lisa Wade has been named director of the Hayes Center for Practice Excellence at Southern College of Optometry, which focuses on teaching business principles to help optometrists succeed in independent practice.

The day after it announced leadership for its international division, Memphis-based Terminix announced it has acquired Groupe Cameron of Quebec, Canada.

No terms were disclosed. Groupe Cameron was founded in 1962 and much of its business is in the commercial sector, including agri-food and pharmaceuticals. The operation has five branches that serve the Quebec area and eastern Ontario.

Larry Pruitt was one of two new appointments made Monday, Sept. 22, by Terminix, which is part of Memphis-based The ServiceMaster Co.

Memphis-based Terminix announced Thursday, May 22, that it has bought the assets of eight pest- and wildlife-control companies so far this year.

The companies operate in 10 states and include six pest-control businesses: Rove Pest Control, which has locations in Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Nashville; Home Front Pest Control of Corona, Calif.; R.P. 30. ServiceMaster, Other Cos. Support Habitat Mission -

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis has a busy couple of weeks ahead as it closes its books on the fall building season.

Tuesday, Oct. 25, marked the dedication of The ServiceMaster Co. home at 3477 E. Oak Side Drive in Trinity Park, the first all-green neighborhood being developed by Memphis Habitat. The will be the Memphis-based home and commercial services company’s fifth sponsorship home with the nonprofit.

31. Lender Buys Willow Lake for $26M -

Willow Lake Business Park and Corporate Park in Hickory Hill sold back to the lender for $26 million Friday, Oct. 14, on the Shelby County Courthouse steps following a foreclosure.

A single-purpose entity named 198-6 Memphis Industrial Portfolio Holdings LLC, which is related to U.S. Bank NA, bought the property from substitute trustee R. Spencer Clift III of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC.

32. archer>malmo Named Ninth Best Place to Work -

Advertising industry publication Advertising Age has named archer>malmo No. 9 on its Best Places to Work in Marketing & Media 2011 poll.

The list featured 30 firms nationwide. Any agency, media owner or marketer with more than 50 full-time employees was eligible.
