A Texas-based group had inked a deal to purchase the long-vacant French Quarter Suites Hotel near Overton Square, but the proposed sale fell through the cracks.
Austin, Texas-based ASC Management had until Oct. 31 to close on the purchase of the 105-room inn at the northeast corner of Madison Avenue and Cooper Street but did not complete the sale.

3. $9.1 Million Loan Filed for Harbor Town Inn

Memphis Center City Revenue Finance Corp. has filed a $9.1 million fee deed of trust through First Tennessee Bank NA for River Inn of Harbor Town hotel property in the Harbor Town area of Mud Island, according to documents filed with the Shelby County Register of Deeds’ Office. River Inn of Harbor Town LLC and River Inn Spa LLC are listed as the borrowers. The loan matures in February 2017.

5. New Boutique Hotels Piggyback on Condo Craze

Memphis rarely is described as a chic city, but upscale hotel projects in Midtown and Harbor Town could work toward changing that.
The 28-room River Inn of Harbor Town is being built at 50 and 51 Harbor Town Square for around $9.3 million, and the America's Best Inn & Suites at 1837 Union Ave. is being renovated to become The Artisan Hotel, Memphis, for around $1.5 million. Together, these projects will bring two boutique hotels to the Bluff City. Boutique hotels tend to be smaller, but offer amenities similar to larger facilities.
