More than a year after Memphis’ tallest building went into foreclosure, 100 North Main has been reclaimed by the lender. THM Memphis Acquisitions LLC effectively bought the 37-story office tower at a foreclosure auction on the courthouse steps after the property failed to receive any bids.

More than a year after Memphis’ tallest building went into foreclosure, 100 North Main has been reclaimed by the lender.

THM Memphis Acquisitions LLC effectively bought the 37-story office tower at a foreclosure auction on the courthouse steps after the property failed to receive any bids. A substitute trustee’s deed for the $1 million transaction was recorded with the Register’s Office Thursday, Jan. 11.

A new single-family residential project in the heart of Victorian Village is doing very well, thank you very much.

Five of the eights lots inside Planters Row II, a unique master planned community on Jefferson Avenue in Victorian Village between the Medical Center and Downtown core, are already optioned or under contract after the first day of sales, according to Scott Blake, president of Design 500 Inc.

29. Nineteenth Century Club to be Auctioned -

The historic Nineteenth Century Club will sell to the highest bidder on Thursday, Jan. 24, during an auction by Morris Auction Group.

Built in 1890, the 15,813-square-foot house at 1433 Union Ave. was purchased in 1926 by The Nineteenth Century Club, a philanthropic women’s organization. The two main floors add up to about 10,000 square feet, in addition to the basement’s 6,000 feet.

30. Unveiling Downtown -

Twenty makeshift art galleries have just popped up in Downtown Memphis.

It’s part of “Unveil Downtown,” an event that has created 20 different spaces within the neighborhood’s restaurants and retail spaces to showcase the work of area artists. The works will be displayed for 20 days, and each artist will not only get to exhibit and sell eight to 10 pieces of artwork, but they’ll keep 100 percent of the proceeds of any sales.

31. Morris Auction to Hold Multi-Property Auction -

Morris Auction Group will auction seven commercial properties Friday, April 13, at noon, at the company’s headquarters, 2687 Mt. Moriah Terrace.

The multi-property auction will include a Southeast Memphis office building, four office buildings in East Memphis, 30 acres of a former shopping center on American Way and a carwash in Horn Lake. All will sell absolute, meaning regardless of price.

32. Morris Auction Group to Auction Seized Property -

Morris Auction Group is holding a public auction Saturday, Oct. 1, of vehicles seized by several government agencies.

On hand will be a variety of vehicles from the West Tennessee Drug Task Force, Shelby County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division, Shelby County government and the city of Millington. Pre-auction inspections will be Friday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6306 Haley Road.

33. History on the Block -

If the walls of the commercial building at 371 Carroll Ave. could talk, what a story they could tell.

The story would begin around 1900, when property records show the Downtown structure was built. It would include a mention of former occupants – like a riverboat captain and even a relative of Elvis Presley – as well as the building’s odd but colorful assortment of uses.

35. Charities Turn Super Sunday into Day of Giving -

Several Memphis-based nonprofits are using Super Bowl Sunday as an opportunity to encourage citizens to give back to their community.

For the seventh year in a row, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis, a nonprofit housing ministry dedicated to providing decent housing for all members of the community, is asking football fans to party with a purpose this Sunday for its annual Home Team Huddle.

36. Memphis Motorsports Bid Accepted -

Dover Motorsports Inc. has accepted investor Joe Lubeck’s bid of $1.875 million for Memphis Motorsports Park, said Jeff Morris of Morris Auction Group LLC. After the 10 percent buyer’s premium, the total comes to $2,062,500.

37. Revving Up -

After being vacant for more than a year, Memphis Motorsports Park sold at a live auction Tuesday morning for slightly less than $1.9 million.

Independent investor Joe Lubeck placed the highest bid for the tract – $1.875 million – after the bidding opened at $3 million. Lubeck is managing partner of Jupiter, Fla.-based Palm Beach International Raceway, formerly Moroso Motorsports Park. Jason Rittenburry, Lubeck’s partner, ran the track for 11 years.

38. Memphis Motorsports Park Sells for $1.9M -

After being vacant for more than a year, Memphis Motorsports Park sold at a live auction Tuesday morning for slightly less than $1.9 million.

Independent investor Joe Lubeck placed the highest bid for the tract – $1.875 million – after the bidding opened at $3 million. 39. Motorsports Park Set for Auction Block -

Memphis Motorsports Park will soon have a new owner after being out of commission for the past year.

The property will be sold at a live, on-site auction Dec. 14 at one of the facility’s parcel locations, 5500 Tay-For Road, near Millington.

40. Holly Springs Mansion Up for Auction -

Morris Auction Group is conducting a live auction of Airliewood, one of the most unique landmarks in Mississippi, this Saturday.

The mansion is known for its Gothic architecture and follows the story of America from the days of extravagance, when it was the first bathroom in the area with running water when Gen. Ulysses S. Grant used the property as his personal headquarters.

41. Rosa Becomes GM at Holiday Inn-Wolfchase -

Chris Rosa has been named general manger of the Holiday Inn and Suites Memphis-Wolfchase. Rosa will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the property. He previously served as vice president of operations for Equity Estates, general manger at the Sheraton Meadowlands and area manger of the Crowne Plaza Ravinia in Atlanta. Rosa also has been named General Manager of the Year by Patriot American Hotels and Hotelier of the Year by the Connecticut Hospitality Association.

42. Hennessy Joins Board Of Opportunity Scholarship Trust -

Scott C. Hennessy, president and chief executive officer of True Temper Sports, has joined the board of directors of Memphis Opportunity Scholarship Trust.

Hennessy will help direct the operations and growth of the nonprofit organization, which provides scholarships and tuition assistance. Hennessy also serves on the Board of Governors of the National Golf Foundation.
