1. Mobile Health Clinic Hits Streets to Help Homeless -

Baptist Memorial Health Care and Christ Community Health Services rolled out a new state-of-the-art mobile health clinic earlier this month, and the larger, modernized vehicle will give Baptist Operation Outreach the ability to treat more of the area’s homeless population in need of medical care.

2. Hospital Wing First to Use iTClamp -

Memphis-based air medical transport service Hospital Wing is the first aero-medical service in the country to use the new iTClamp hemorrhage control system, following its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration this summer.

3. Improved Flight Path -

Air medical transport service Hospital Wing has consolidated its operations under one roof with a $1.2 million renovation and expansion of its headquarters near Downtown Memphis.

“The Wing” – as the company is usually called – celebrated the completion of renovations at its Memphis base with an open house event, Tuesday, Oct. 2.

4. Med Loses Wing Stake, Gains Write-Off -

The Regional Medical Center at Memphis will write off about $4.4 million in assets because it no longer has an ownership stake in the Hospital Wing.

Hospital officials did not know until recently that the charter for the air ambulance service had been modified to change it to a nonmember organization. The original owners of the service were The MED, Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.

Hospital Wing celebrates 20 years of service at a community open house Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Memphis Hangar Complex, 1080 Eastmoreland Ave. The nonprofit air ambulance program was formed in 1986 through an alliance between The Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital, Baptist Memorial Health Care and Methodist-Le Bonheur Healthcare.
