11. $1.2M Permit Filed For Highland Row Steakhouse -

Steakhouse restaurant Char is on track for its July opening with a $1.2 million building permit application recently filed with the city-county Office of Construction Code Enforcement.

In December, the Daily News reported that the restaurateurs behind longstanding Italian restaurant Amerigo were bringing Char to Highland Row. The first Char opened in Jackson, Miss., in 2001.

34. City Council Approves Colonial Conversion, Vintage Trolley Purchase -

One of two golf courses at Colonial Country Club would give way to houses under a planned development approved Tuesday, Jan. 19, by the Memphis City Council.

The council approved a development that would turn the north course at Colonial into either a mix of single-family homes, townhouses and cottages or a mix of housing for senior citizens.

A pair of job fairs on Wednesday, Jan. 20, is giving Memphis-area job seekers two chances to meet with potential employers.

Memphis-based pest-control company Terminix will hold its job event Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 6399 Shelby Oaks Drive. The company, a division of ServiceMaster Global Holdings, is seeking to fill 120 positions at its Memphis call center over the next six months, with new hire classes starting at the beginning of each month.
