1. Loeb Properties Planning $24M Overton Square Hotel -

Loeb Properties wants to build on the revival of Overton Square by adding a $24 million, 100-room hotel in the district.

The Memphis-based company and its partners – boutique hotel developer LRC2 Properties and hospitality management company MMI Hotel Group – are seeking a 15-year tax abatement to construct a 100-room boutique hotel at the southwest corner of Cooper Street and Trimble Place, south of Madison Avenue in Midtown Memphis.

2. MMDC Hires Mitchell to Lead Community Development -

Memphis native Vonesha Mitchell has joined the Memphis Medical District Collaborative as program manager, community development. Mitchell’s new position rolls together several functions, including recruiting retail for vacant and underutilized storefronts, working with U3 Advisors to launch and administer the Hire Local program, developing assistance package and incentive programs, and engaging current and potential businesses in the district to understand opportunities and concerns.

3. HealthChoice Promotes Henning To Director of Population Health -

Sarah Henning has been promoted to director of population health programs at HealthChoice. Henning previously served as manager of the department. In her new role, Henning is responsible for designing, implementing and managing population health and wellness initiatives and programs for the HealthChoice network.
She also collaborates with stakeholders to promote and support these programs and to ensure they meet the needs of the affected populations and adapt with the changing health care environment.

6. Indigo Going Ahead With Frontier Airlines Purchase -

DENVER (AP) – Indigo Partners LLC is going ahead with plans to buy Frontier Airlines, even though it failed to reach an agreement with the carrier's flight attendants' union.

7. Republic Extends Time to Close Frontier Sale -

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The parent company of Frontier Airlines says a deadline to sell the airline will be extended by two more days.

Republic Airways, Frontier's owner, has agreed to sell it to Indigo Partners, an investment firm based in Phoenix. But before the sale can close, Indigo says it needs agreements with the union for Frontier flight attendants, and with credit card issuer Barclays.

10. Frontier Airlines Sold to Ultra-Cheap Airline Investor -

Frontier Airlines is being sold to William Franke, a pioneer of the cheap tickets and high fees airline business that has spread overseas and is growing in the U.S.

Franke is the former chairman of Spirit Airlines, which has earned consistent profits by jamming more seats on its planes and charging extra for things that other airlines do for free, such as printing a boarding pass at the airport, or using the overhead bin.

11. Brooks Brothers Relocating to Saddle Creek -

High-end clothier chain Brooks Brothers plans to open a new location at The Shops of Saddle Creek West in Germantown.

The New York City-based retailer will open in 7,500 square feet of space at 7509 Poplar Ave. by early June, taking over the two suites formerly occupied by Indigo and Talbots Men’s. Indigo last month relocated and expanded two spaces down into the old Natural Body Spa & Shoppe space.

12. Madison Hotel Names New General Manager -

Downtown Memphis’ Madison Hotel recently announced the addition of Angie Hines as general manager.
