Kelsey Hamilton has been promoted to director of development at the Wolf River Conservancy. Hamilton joined the conservancy in October 2014 as associate director of development.

In her new role, she works to ensure that fundraising goals are met at the conservancy, an accredited land trust that has protected over 16,000 acres of the Wolf River watershed since its founding in 1985. 17. Lakecrest II Sells for $4.6 Million -

The Lakecrest II office building in East Memphis has changed hands again.

Southland Primacy LLC acquired the 129,104-square-foot office building at 6055 Primacy Parkway from Jefferson-Pilot Investments Inc. Feb. 28 for $4.6 million.

18. Banner Year for East Memphis Office Space -

The Memphis office real estate market began showing signs of life in 2013, with the market for Class A office space in the East Memphis submarket fueling the resurgence.

While the city’s overall office market numbers may not appear very strong, the city’s most desired office submarket – East Memphis around Poplar Avenue and Interstate 240 – began showing strong signs of improvement in the second half of the year.

The undercurrents in health care reform that have received little publicity but could have big ramifications for businesses will be discussed at an coming Executive Forum in the Bluff City.

Stephen H. Rhea has received the Julian Bondurant Distinguished Service Award from WKNO Public Broadcasting.

Bryan Jordan, the new CEO of First Horizon National Corp., was in New York Tuesday, busy with a task he also tackled at the end of his first week in the CEO’s chair Friday.

Jordan has been reaching out to Wall Street analysts in an attempt to reassure them about the direction of the Memphis-based financial services company.

Small businesses are helping employees become better managers - of their own money.

When it comes to managing their retirement-savings accounts, small-business employees often are at a disadvantage compared with their counterparts at large companies. Corporations typically employ large in-house human-resources staff and offer analytical tools and money-management services that are cost prohibitive for small firms.

50. First Horizon’s Incoming CEO Makes Rounds -

Bryan Jordan is a little more than two weeks away from moving into the driver’s seat at First Horizon National Corp. But his influence already can be felt throughout the banking company.

One of the things he’s done in advance of his promotion from First Horizon’s chief financial officer to its chief executive is make the rounds within the company to meet with and reassure employees. In an internal memo Jordan sent out last week, he said he’s already met with hundreds of employees at brown bag lunches over the past two weeks, events he said the company will continue to host about twice a year.

The owners of the one-room coffee bar and café across the street from Memphis City Hall have heard that mayor Willie Herenton is a fan of their fresh-baked muffins.

They assume the mayor sends someone to fetch him a batch, because they haven't seen much of him. Yet he's one example of the loyal customer base The Daily Grind bistro has cultivated during its six-year run, which comes to an end Friday.
