1. Commission Delays Vote on Air Monitoring Station -

The Shelby County Commission deferred for two weeks Monday, Sept. 24, a vote on accepting a $200,000 federal grant for the construction of a new air monitoring station. Some commissioners want to negotiate for a new site for a station that monitors “near roadside air pollutants.” The site proposed is near interstate traffic.

2. Commission To Put Pera On FedExForum Lease, Appoint Election Reform Panel -

Shelby County Commissioners take up a new name on the lease for FedExForum at their Monday, Sept. 24, meeting.

On the agenda is a resolution replacing Hoops LP, the Memphis Grizzlies ownership group headed by Michael Heisley, with RJP Group LLC, the ownership group headed by Robert Pera.

3. Criminal Courts Work Toward E-Filing System -

Before he was elected Criminal Court clerk in 2010, Kevin Key worked on the e-filing system in Circuit Court that made its debut this week along with the same system in Chancery Court.

And Key is now working toward an e-filing system for the Criminal Court system that presents some different challenges than those in Circuit or Chancery, which are civil courts.

4. Circuit, Chancery Make Move to Paperless -

The day-to-day business of Shelby County’s Circuit and Chancery courts is on the way to going paperless after more than 150 years of ink on paper.

The Circuit and Chancery courts clerks’ offices will go to electronic, or e-filing, of all court records in June.

5. Civil Court Filings Drop in Second Quarter -

Court filings in Circuit, Chancery and Probate courts were down for the second quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago and the first quarter of 2011, according to The Daily News Online, www.memphisdailynews.com.

6. City Considers New IT Providers -

The city of Memphis is re-examining its relationship with the giant Dallas-based outsourcing firm that has been the city’s technology partner for several years.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. for almost a decade has been the city’s information technology vendor, a job that, among other things, has made the company responsible for managing the city’s data processing and telecommunication services.
