AutoZone Inc.

AutoZone Inc. is one of the largest auto parts retailers and distributors in the U.S., with a store count of 5,476 as of Feb. 14. Since 1998, the company has repurchased $15.7 billion worth of its own shares. At the end of March, AutoZone continued its share buyback program with the authorization to buy back another $750 million in company stock. The company followed that news with plans to pursue a $650 million debt offering to be used for “general corporate purposes.” – Andy Meek

Memphis-based ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. posted first-quarter earnings of $28 million, the company reported Tuesday, April 28.

Sales of new services at Terminix, the acquisition of Home Security of America Inc. and organic growth at American Home Shield prompted Memphis-based ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. to post increases in revenues Thursday, Feb. 26, for the year 2014 and the fourth quarter of the year.

13. ServiceMaster Begins Trading on NYSE -

The parent company of Memphis-based ServiceMaster Co. LLC began trading on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday, June 26, in an initial public offering of its common stock.

The move to the market comes a day after ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. announced it was pricing the offering of 35.9 million shares at $17 per share. The pricing was below analysts’ estimates of $18 to $21 per share.

J. Patrick Spainhour, who has served as chief executive officer of The ServiceMaster Co. since 2006, is retiring from the company at the end of the year. A search for his successor will start immediately.
