5. PR Alliance Offers Statewide Reach -

A new statewide alliance has been formed by communications experts from Memphis to Knoxville to provide blanket geographic coverage for products and issues in Tennessee.

Coordinated by Nashville-based McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations, the state’s largest PR firm, charter members of the Tennessee Public Relations Alliance are the Carter Malone Group of Memphis and Moxley Carmichael Public Relations of Knoxville.

6. Top Bredesen Adviser Leaves to Work for Frist -

A top adviser to Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen is leaving to take a senior position with Republican Bill Frist’s education initiative.

Will Pinkston said Thursday he has been hired to run the advocacy arm of Frist’s State Collaborative on Reforming Education, or SCORE. Frist, the former U.S. Senate majority Leader, founded SCORE last year after deciding not to run for governor.

7. FedEx Institute of Technology Names Mandle Executive Director -

Shaye R. Mandle has been named executive director of the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis. Previously, he worked for the Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), where he led the business activities of SAIC's Reconnaissance and Surveillance Operation. Mandle has worked as a district director for the former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, and as a legislative liaison to the Illinois Department of Revenue.

H. McCall Wilson Jr., president and CEO of The Bank of Fayette County, recently attended a meeting of the American Bankers Association's Community Bankers Council in Washington, D.C. Wilson represents Tennessee's community banks on the council.
