The students’ entry in the Made By Milk Carton Construction Contest showed synchronized swimmers in a pool of milk and was among the entries recognized in the People’s Choice category that included a $2,500 prize.

Evergreen Packaging has renewed and expanded its lease at the 5350 Poplar Ave. office building in East Memphis. The 40,000-square-foot location will be the global headquarters for Evergreen, a spinoff of International Paper’s paper packaging division located in Memphis since 2007. Evergreen recently merged with Indianapolis-based Closure Systems International and York, Pa.-based Graham Packaging Co., creating a combined company with $5.5 billion in annual revenue.

Memphis-based MAA is a year into its search for a new headquarters, and the company is moving closer to plans for a newly constructed building.
The real estate investment trust, which focuses on multifamily properties, first announced the move last summer. MAA is currently housed in nearly 43,000 square feet at 6584 Poplar Ave. in East Memphis. It is looking for an 80,000-square-foot space, with room to grow, to house its 200 local employees.
