5. Dayco Wins Tax Break For Distribution Operations -

Michigan-based manufacturer Dayco Products Ltd. will consolidate its distribution operations in the Memphis area, but exactly where remains undecided.

“Due to the continued growth in demand for our products and increased product complexity over the past several years, we have committed to this significant capital investment in order to deliver increased value to our customers,” said Ed Rammel, president of the North American and Australian Aftermarket for Dayco, in a company statement.

Eastgate Center LLC, the owner of Eastgate Shopping Center at Park Avenue and White Station Road in East Memphis, could make significant aesthetic improvements to the retail center beginning this year.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The U.S. economy slowed sharply in the first three months of the year as a harsh winter exacted a toll on business activity. The slowdown, while worse than expected, is likely to be temporary as growth rebounds with warmer weather.

Cross Creek Center, the shopping center at the northwest corner of Riverdale and Winchester roads, is scheduled for a foreclosure sale, according to a first-run foreclosure notice in today’s Daily News. The foreclosure covers 3469 Riverdale Road, 3505 Riverdale (also known as 3505 Winchester) and 3587 Riverdale.

David Simon, chairman and CEO of the nation’s largest public real estate firm, told analysts a few weeks ago during Simon Property Group’s fourth quarter earnings conference call that 2009 was a challenging year.
