Rock for Water, a concert hosted by Rachel’s Salon & Day Spa to benefit the Tennessee Clean Water Network, will be held Friday, April 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Court Square pavilion Downtown. The Memphis School of Rock house band will perform, and donations will go toward installing a drinking fountain in Court Square. Visit memphissalonspa.com.

Playhouse on the Square will host a Four Seasons Cocktail Series happy hour Saturday, Dec. 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Playhouse, 66 S. Cooper St. The event will include guided tours of the theater, including areas off limits to the public. Cost is free; donations benefit Memphis Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Orpheum Theatre will hold its Holiday Open House Friday, Dec. 20, at the theater, 203 S. Main St. Doors open at 10 a.m., and highlights include a concert on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ at noon, a screening of “Miracle on 34th Street” at 2 p.m. and a presentation by “Memphis Movie Theatres” author Vincent Astor at 4:30 p.m. Visit orpheum-memphis.com for a complete schedule.

4. Events Showcase Soulsville’s ‘Blank Canvas’ -

A group of organizations working to bring to life the Soulsville community ended a busy weekend that is an indication of the area’s promise at about where the produce section was supposed to be in the Soulsville Towne Center supermarket.

5. Music Commission Announces Emissaries of Memphis Music -

The Memphis & Shelby County Music Commission has announced its 2012 Emissaries of Memphis Music.

The eight women selected will receive their accolades at a celebration March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis, 3700 Central Ave.

6. Memphis Musicians To Release Record Benefiting Haiti -

JEA Right Now Records, a Memphis-based record label, will release a song in May titled “A Message from Memphis” to benefit Haitian relief efforts.

The project included more than 40 Memphis-based recording artists, producers, arrangers and performers including Kirk Whalum, Alexis Grace, David Porter, the Bar-Kays, J. Blackfoot and Wendy Moten.
