1. State Giving $1 Million to 29 Communities for Tourism -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – State officials say 29 Tennessee communities will receive more than $1 million in grants to improve tourism infrastructure.

Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd said Thursday that the Tourism Enhancement Grants help counties and cities increase the economic impact of tourism. Grants range from $10,000 to $50,000.

5. 15 Counties Designated as Agriculture Disaster -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Gov. Bill Haslam says U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has designated 15 counties a natural disaster for agriculture as a result of storms and flooding in April and May.

6. Friday is Deadline to Apply for Disaster Loans -

NASHVILLE (AP) – Friday is the deadline for private, nonprofit organizations in Tennessee to submit disaster loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available because of severe storms, flooding, winds and tornadoes between last April 30 and May 18.
