Health care officials say a new clinical simulation center at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis will be an important tool.
A ribbon cutting and open house at the center was Friday, July 20. It is to be used for professional degree programs and residency training.

Patients at Tennessee hospitals are safer on several key measures today than they were three years ago, according to information from the Tennessee Center for Patient Safety.
The center was launched in 2007 by the Tennessee Hospital Association’s nonprofit, education and research subsidiary, Tennessee Hospital Education and Research Foundation, to provide education, resources and tools to help hospitals accelerate their performances in quality and patient safety initiatives. Funding for the center came from a three-year grant from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation.

Phil Bredesen has about a month left in his eight-year tenure as governor.
And during a trip to Memphis last week, he sounded like a political figure who won’t run again for elected office.
“I don’t think so,” he said when asked, and then specifically addressed speculation he might be a future candidate for the U.S. Senate. “I don’t think I’d be any good at that. I don’t think I’d be happy. I don’t they’d be happy with me. I just think my inclinations are much more toward the executive branch.”
5. Stephanie Nichols Named PRSA Professional of the Year

The Memphis chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) honored Stephanie Wilson Nichols as its 2006 Professional of the Year during the 15th annual VOX Awards Gala. This is the second time Nichols has received the award. The first time was in 2000. She served as the VOX Awards committee chair this year, and in 2005 was the chapter president. She also assisted the VOX committee in 2005. Nichols has earned and maintained her PRSA Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation since 2000 and has been an active member of PRSA since 1993.
