1. Man Sentenced to 15 Years in 1990 Memphis Killing -

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Prosecutors in Tennessee say a man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison without parole in the 1990 shooting death of a Memphis liquor store owner.

Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich says in a news release that 61-year-old Stanley Owens was sentenced Wednesday in Shelby County Criminal Court in the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Edward Askew.

2. Grand Jury Indicts Suspect In 25-Year-Old Robbery-Murder -

A Shelby County grand jury indicted a suspect Tuesday, July 14, in the 1990 murder of a liquor store owner on Central Avenue during a robbery.

Stanley Owens is accused in the Feb. 9, 1990, robbery and murder of Edward Askew. He is charged with first-degree murder and was being held in jail on an $800,000 bond Wednesday.
