1. Bike Share Deal Coincides with City’s 901 Identity -

The Explore Bike Share folks plan to celebrate the 901 on 9/01 with a special monthly price of $9.01 for the transportation system.

From Thursday, Aug. 30, until Thursday, Sept. 6, Explore Bike Share will offer the special rate associated with the city’s area code – the alternate identity for the Bluff City and surrounding areas.

The Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau and Explore Bike Share will roll out “I Love Memphis” bikes on Wednesday, May 9, in advance of Explore Bike Share’s launch of a 600-bike system later this month.

The launch of Explore Bike Share is getting closer with the nonprofit revealing Wednesday, March 28, the locations of the stations for the 600-bike system.

Explore Bike Share’s 60 stations span from Downtown, South Memphis and Cooper-Young to Orange Mound, Overton Square and Crosstown. The stations and bikes are being funded through a combination of donations from foundations and individuals, plus a $2.2 million federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality grant, said Explore Bike Share executive director Trey Moore.

Explore Bike Share is inviting the community to help unpack bike-share equipment Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 6-8, in anticipation of the system’s spring launch in Memphis.

Six hundred state-of-the-art BCycle Dash bikes were set to arrive Thursday and Friday, Feb. 1-2, in more than 600 boxes, according to Explore Bike Share operations director Rajah Brown.
