1. October 6-12, 2017: This week in Memphis history -

2016: On the cover of The Memphis News, the opening of the $52 million “Heart of the Park” project at Shelby Farms Park turns a lot of heads and prompts a lot of new traffic on land that was once a prison farm and had been slated in the 1970s for residential construction. “I feel like it’s a city that’s reinvented itself,” Shelby Farms Park Conservancy director Jen Andrews says in the cover story. “It didn’t change who it was, but it reinvented itself – a sprawling city that chose to reconnect itself. … Memphis has become a city that believes in making things better for the public realm.”

2. O’Brien Joins Sullivan’s Creative Team -

Chris O’Brien has joined Sullivan Branding’s creative team as group creative director. In this role, O’Brien specializes in the design, development, and implementation of creative campaigns. He’s also responsible for overseeing the agency’s creative operations and product.

3. Scott Sharpe Named CAO Of District Attorney General’s Office -

Scott Sharpe recently was named chief administrative officer of the Shelby County District Attorney General’s office following the departure of longtime CAO Priscilla Campbell.

Ballet Memphis and Crosstown Arts will present “spark: behind the scenes of ‘World Wonders’” Friday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Playhouse on the Square, 66 S. Cooper St. Attendees will meet the dancers and artistic staff before the 8 p.m. performance. Cost is free. Visit balletmemphis.org.

5. Williams to Lead Marketing at Junior Achievement -

Priscilla Williams has joined Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South as director of marketing and special events. In her new role, Williams will work to increase the organization’s visibility, funding and branding.

6. Senior Care Management Solutions Promotes Williams -

Darla Williams has been promoted to health care administrator at Senior Care Management Solutions. In her new role, Williams will play a critical role in overseeing and customizing clients’ daily care plans to fit their specific needs.
