University of Memphis football player Riley Ferguson and Nick Jacobs were two of an all-time high 1,267 college football players named to the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society. In order to be named to the honor society, football players must have maintained a 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers, have completed their final year of eligibility in 2017 and been a starter or significant contributor.

The Tigers’ high-powered offense, driven by quarterback Paxton Lynch, is well-documented. Their 44.8 scoring average ranks sixth nationally.
Which doesn’t leave a lot of work for the University of Memphis punter, sophomore Spencer Smith. He’s averaging 46.8 yards per punt, which would rank fourth in the country if he met the minimum of 3.6 punts per game.

The University of Memphis football team’s kicker Jake Elliott has been named the American Athletic Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Elliott, who is a junior, scored 13 points for the Tigers in a 41-13 win over visiting Tulane last week, including a trio of field goals.
