Coury is the first practicing attorney in Memphis to receive the honor and the only one from the four-state Sixth Circuit federal judicial district. He is a past chairman of the bankruptcy sections of the Memphis Bar and Tennessee Bar associations. Coury is a past director of the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute.
