The Memphis Grizzlies rallied to take down the Philadelphia 76ers 105-101 Monday night at FedExForum for their fifth straight victory at home.

The Grizzlies outscored the 76ers 31-18 in the fourth quarter.

10. Grizzlies Top Clippers 115-112 Before Starting Five-Game West Coast Trip - Monday, December 25, 2017

To finally reach double-digits wins, the Memphis Grizzlies had to put up a season-high 115 points and hang on at the end after a 16-point fourth-quarter lead melted down to three points.

But the Grizzlies managed to pull it off, beating the Los Angeles Clippers 115-112 on Saturday, Dec. 23, at FedExForum.

11. Grizzlies' Andrew Harrison Again Contributing - Monday, December 11, 2017

There is really no replacing starting point guard Mike Conley. That much is obvious for a Grizzlies team on a three-game losing streak and that has lost 14 of its last 15 games.

While Tyreke Evans has made a pretty good transition from off-the-bench scoring machine to starting and often running the team, another guard also has seen a change in duties.

12. Grizzlies Drop Ninth Straight, Conley Out 2-3 More Weeks - Friday, December 1, 2017

The Memphis Grizzlies’ first game after the firing of coach David Fizdale brought the same result as the previous eight: a loss, this time 104-95 at San Antonio on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Center Marc Gasol, who was in the middle of the Fizdale firestorm because the coach was dismissed less than 24 hours after Gasol had been benched for the fourth quarter vs. Brooklyn and then voiced his displeasure, scored 10 points with seven assists and six rebounds vs. the Spurs. Gasol (3,732) also passed Zach Randolph as the franchise’s all-time leader in made field goals.

13. Grizzlies Reeling, Lose Fifth Straight to Portland - Wednesday, November 22, 2017

The Grizzlies’ fifth straight loss, and their eighth in the last 10 games, had its share of ugliness. Being outrebounded by Portland 60-35 was ugly. Shooting 38.4 percent and 26.7 percent from 3-point range (8 of 30) was hardly a thing of beauty.

Grizzlies over the Rockets 98-90 after being down 12 on the road in Houston. There is just something in the Memphis sports ethos that happens at halftime or between quarters. The Grizz are 3-0 in this young season. And for the second consecutive game some extracurricular action on the court. Mario Chalmers of the Grizz and James Harden of the Rockets scuffled after Chalmers got floored by Harden after Harden got swarmed by him and James Ennis. Harden got the foul and he and Chalmers each got a technical for what followed.

20. Grizzlies Run Past Golden State, 111-101 - Monday, October 23, 2017

When it was done, when the Memphis Grizzlies had defeated the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors 111-101 Saturday night at FedExForum, and Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant had been ejected, there was a lot of explaining to do.

The rookie admitted there was at least a moment of concern. Dillon Brooks would score 19 points with five rebounds, four steals, mostly look like he had been playing in the NBA for about 10 years, and his team would win on opening night.

22. Roster Moves Show Grizzlies Know They Can’t Put Tomorrow Ahead of Today - Wednesday, October 18, 2017

From the time training camp opened this year, forward Jarell Martin was considered likely to be left on the outside looking in when the Grizzlies made their final roster cuts. Martin was a first-round selection in the 2015 NBA Draft, but speculation was he would be competing with young Deyonta Davis, a second-round pick in 2016, for the last roster slot on the front line. And because Davis was just 20 and considered raw but with much potential, Martin would lose out.

Former Vanderbilt guard Wade Baldwin, who was the Memphis Grizzlies’ first-round pick and the 17th overall player selected in the 2016 NBA Draft, will not make the team, league sources told ESPN. In addition to the team’s plan to waive Baldwin, they apparently will do the same with forward Rade Zagorac, a second-round choice (35th overall) in the 2016 NBA Draft.

26. A Positive First Step For Grizzlies’ Mario Chalmers - Wednesday, October 4, 2017

Veteran point guard Mario Chalmers is on a partially guaranteed contract and that means what it sounds like it means. The Grizzlies wanted to give Chalmers, 31, a long look, but coming off surgery for an Achilles injury they didn’t believe it was automatic he would be ready to serve as Mike Conley’s backup as he did two seasons ago.

27. Will Grizzlies Have A Leg to Stand On? - Friday, September 1, 2017

David Fizdale was eloquent as he again stated the city of Memphis should remove its Confederate statues. Chris Wallace appeared to have lost weight, an executive expression that this team will be ready for training camp in a few weeks.

The Memphis Redbirds and Memphis Grizzlies are coming together for “Grit Grind Night” on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at AutoZone Park. Grizzlies players Tyreke Evans and Mario Chalmers are scheduled to sign autographs and throw first pitches, and the first 2,000 fans when gates open at 5:30 receive a dual schedule magnet featuring both the 2017-18 Grizzlies schedule and the 2018 Redbirds schedule.

The Memphis Grizzlies continue to walk dual trails. It is what they must do, even if such hedging threatens to constrain both their immediate and long-range future.

We learned this week that 31-year-old point guard Mario Chalmers is returning to the Grizzlies on a partially guaranteed one-year contract. Two seasons ago, Chalmers was an impactful backup for Mike Conley until a ruptured Achilles tendon ended his season.

It didn’t take the Shelby County Commission very long Wednesday to close the door on its budget season – about 20 minutes in the day’s special meeting to approve a county property tax rate of $4.11 on third and final reading. That’s not a quick up or down vote. And it took just a bit longer because there is still some discussion about whether this was a reduction in the tax rate or a tax cut in the sense that a homeowner in Shelby County would understand the term.

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley could miss six weeks after sustaining a back injury in Monday’s 105-84 loss to the Charlotte Hornets at FedExForum. 

Near press time, Adrian Wojnarowksi of Yahoo! Sports reported that Conley had suffered a transverse process fracture of the vertebrae and  would be out indefinitely.

37. More Rest for Gasol, Conley Means More Minutes for Young Grizzlies - Friday, November 4, 2016

Five games into their season, the Memphis Grizzlies have provided a small sample size that is simultaneously encouraging, confounding and still mildly concerning. 

Through games of Wednesday, Nov. 2, the Grizzlies were 3-2. Nothing wrong with that record given the team has a new coach in David Fizdale, is employing a new style of offense, and has new starters and rookies in the rotation. Yet they also needed overtime – at home – to dispatch the Washington Wizards (0-3) and the New Orleans Pelicans (0-5).

The Memphis Grizzlies were not alone in their unmitigated defeat. The NBA Playoffs started this past weekend and while descriptions of what happened to the Grizzlies within the shadow of the Alamo in San Antonio were colorful – “a 106-74 bludgeoning by the San Antonio Spurs” read one account at NBA.com – this was hardly an isolated incident.

Memphis had acquired the 25-year-old Ennis along with guard Mario Chalmers from the Miami Heat on Nov. 10 in exchange for guard Beno Udrih and forward Jarnell Stokes. Ennis has averaged 1.2 points and 3.6 minutes in 13 games this season with the Heat and Grizzlies.
