Memphis Brooks Museum of Art hosts its final community engagement session to gather feedback on its Downtown relocation Tuesday, March 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memphis fire headquarters (the site of Brooks’ future home), 65 S. Front St. Museum officials are seeking input on several topics as they begin the process of selecting an architect and creating a vision for the new space. As two high profile Memphis murder cases moved toward retrial this week, the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals reversed another murder conviction in Shelby County Criminal Court earlier this month.

4. Six Criminal Court Convictions Reversed Since August - Saturday, April 25, 2015

Since August, Tennessee appeals courts have overturned the convictions of six Shelby County Criminal Court defendants on charges that ranged from murder to bad checks.

The latest reversal and new trial involved jurors in the 2012 first-degree murder trial of Eric Williams being passed a shotgun to examine after a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent testified about how double-barrel shotguns operate.

5. New Trial Ordered for Fifth Memphis Case - Monday, March 30, 2015

For the fifth time since August a state appellate court has reversed a conviction in Shelby County Criminal Court and ordered a new trial for the defendant.

The latest reversal came Thursday, March 26, from the Tennessee Supreme Court in the case of Frederick Herron, who was convicted by a jury in 2012 of raping a child. Criminal Court Judge Carolyn Wade Blackett sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

6. St. Jude Appoints New Scientific Director - Saturday, November 8, 2014

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has named Dr. Richard Gilbertson scientific director for the institution.

The position is in addition to his current leadership responsibilities as St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center director and executive vice president. Gilbertson takes over the scientific director position from Dr. James R. Downing, who was appointed St. Jude president and chief executive officer earlier this year.

8. State Supreme Court Reverses Bartlett Murder Conviction - Monday, September 29, 2014

The man convicted and sentenced to death for the brutal 2003 double murder of a husband and wife in Bartlett will get a new trial, the Tennessee Supreme Court ruled last week.

The court decision Thursday, Sept. 25, in the case of Henry Lee Jones is the latest reversal of a conviction in Shelby County Criminal Court by the highest court in the state.

The Tennessee Supreme Court reversed Thursday, Sept. 25, the first-degree double-murder conviction of Henry Lee Jones for the 2003 murders of Clarence and Lillian James in Bartlett.

10. Methodist's Marshall to Serve On American Heart Association Board - Wednesday, September 5, 2007

Barry S. Marshall, administrator of Clinical Business Development and Cardiovascular Service Line at Methodist University Hospital, has been named to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Shelby County Division of the American Heart Association. Marshall joined Methodist in 2004 as the director of the Transplant Institute at Methodist University Hospital.

Christian Brothers University's School of Business honors Memphis businessman/entrepreneur Robert Buckman at the school's annual Founders Dinner Saturday. Buckman is president and chairman of the board of The Applied Knowledge Group Inc. He also serves as chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors of Bulab Holdings Inc., parent company of Buckman Laboratories.
