1. UTHSC Names Storgion Chair Of Physician Assistant Studies -

Dr. Stephanie Storgion has been named chair of the department of physician assistant studies at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Storgion’s appointment comes as the department moves to the College of Medicine from the College of Health Professions, where it started two years ago. 

2. Memphis Zoo's New Attraction Takes High-Tech Dive Into Zambezi -

On the African continent, the Zambezi River Valley is south of the savanna. At the Memphis Zoo, it is west of the savanna-like grassland environments where elephants, zebras and giraffes can be seen.

3. Zambezi Hippo Exhibit Caps Generation of Zoo Plans, Launches Another -

Sandblasting, painting rondavels and plotting a FedEx flight out of Durban, South Africa, for a quartet of 850-pound crocodiles is the order of the day at the Memphis Zoo.

But just beyond the March 1 opening of the $22 million Zambezi River Hippo Camp, zoo director Chuck Brady already is looking ahead to what the organization’s next master plan will tackle. The aquarium and the aviary are at the top of his list.

4. Logjam -

The Overton Park Conservancy is using the summer-to-fall lull at the park to take another look at how to handle the large crowds the park draws as it adds and renovates attractions.

Shuttle buses the conservancy experimented with twice this year worked well. There might be a way to reconfigure the park’s flow, and all of the institutions in the park are talking with each other regularly about events they are planning.
