The cafe inside the Memphis Botanic Garden, situated between the water and sculpture gardens, is going to be changing a bit over the coming weeks and months.

That’s a result of the eatery, Fratelli’s Cafe, getting a new owner. She’s Kris Shelby, whose experience in the restaurant industry has included working as catering manager for Fratelli’s for about five years under Sabine Bachmann, who co-founded Fratelli’s with Malcolm Aste.

Fratelli’s Café, the eatery inside Memphis Botanic Garden, has a new owner. Kris Shelby has become the sole proprietor of the lunchtime café, which specializes in fresh soups, salads and sandwiches.

Hot Yoga Plus, a Nashville-based yoga concept, is opening a second Memphis area location.

Hot Yoga Plus, founded by Memphian Susannah Herring, has signed a 2,015-square-foot lease at 9037 Poplar Ave. in Germantown. The new store is expected to open this fall and follows the original Memphis location in Laurelwood.

The former Mazda North America Inc. distribution center in DeSoto County has been acquired by Hillwood Investment Properties for $13.5 million.

9. Plush Club Hearing Delayed Until June 30 -

A hearing on closing a Beale Street nightspot cited as a nuisance under state law has been delayed for two weeks.

Attorneys for Plush Club owner Kris Perkins asked for the delay to prepare for a hearing in Environmental Court on the request to close the club.

You can usually tell the Plush Club is open by the trio of roving searchlights on the south end of Beale Street. 

They’ve been the best indicator of the irregular hours the six-year-old nightspot keeps at the corner of Fourth Street and Beale.
